How to Help Your Child Navigate the Social World
Today I'm talking with Bryony Rust, a speech and language therapist, all about social communication.
In this episode we talk about:
What social communication is and why it's so important.
Why social understanding is so easy to overlook as a necessary life skill.
How you can help your children learn social communication skills from a very young age.
Why listening is half the battle and how to help your child use whole-body listening.
Why the eyes are a window into your thought process.
The importance of taking your child's perspective.. literally and figuratively.
Why you should give your child more time to respond than you naturally feel comfortable with.
The value of play and stories in learning social understanding skills.
