My 10 Favorite Children's Books to Build Resilience

I LOVE books and I especially love children's books! Seriously, I could read all day.

What I love the most about children's books is how easily they can spark conversations you wouldn't otherwise have with your kids. You find yourself having deeper, richer conversations about tough topics.

You may even find yourself in awe of the insight those little brains are capable of!

Narrowing down this list to only 10 of my favorite children's books about building resilience was a challenge for sure!

#1 Ordinary People Change the World Gift Set by Brad Meltzer

This gift set includes 4 books but there are so many others to add to this collection, each of them equally amazing! The 4 included in this set are Abraham Lincoln, Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks, and Albert Einstein and the lessons and inspiration are great for any age.

#2 The Angry Octopus: A Relaxation Story by Lori Lite

This is an anger management story introducing progressive muscular relaxation and deep breathing. The first time I read this I felt a little uncomfortable and silly but it truly is relaxing for you and the kiddo!

#3 Children Just Like Me: A New Celebration of Children Around the World

This book, exploring the lives of children around the world, is so much fun and promotes kindness and empathy!

#4 One by Kathryn Otoshi

"One" beautifully illustrates emotions and the power of One to stand up when something is not right. LOVE!

#5 The Invisible String by Patrice Karst

This heart-warming book was written to help children experiencing grief but for me, the message about our powerful connection with others really resonated.

#6 What Do You Do With A Problem by Kobi Yamada

With beautiful artwork and narrative, this book inspires persistence and possibilities while working to solve a problem.

#7 Have You Filled A Bucket Today? A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids by Carol McCloud

One of my all-time favorites right here! The idea of filling others' buckets as a way to increase your happiness is such a great metaphor. Are you a bucket-filler or a bucket-dipper?

#8 The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes by Mark Pett and Gary Rubinstein

The perfectionist child in me fell for this book! This is such a great story about the freedom in making mistakes, the power of expectations and the courage to just live life.

#9 Ish by Peter H. Reynolds

This book walks us through the creative process, the persistence, the ridicule, and the freedom of finally letting go and embracing who you are!

#10 Oh, the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss

Finally, I couldn't leave out this classic! In this book, you will find such amazing conversation starters about motivation, goals, persistence, and independence.

There you have it! 10 children's books to build resilience.
